HAPPENINGS AT THE BUNDY
Setting the Stage, Pre-show Film Series (April 1st) – In conjunction with the Tri-Cities Opera performance of Hydrogen Jukebox, the chamber opera featuring the work of Beat poet Allen Ginsberg and the music of Philip Glass, the Bundy will host a two-part film night. The first part consists of shorts from the 1960s to the present, which include a collection of interviews and readings by Allen Ginsberg, along with art and photographs compiled by the directors and music by Philip Glass.
The second part will be a screening of The Twilight Zone episode “Come Wander with Me,” which begins with the opening narration, “Mr. Floyd Burney, a gentleman songster in search of song, is about to answer the age-old question of whether a man can be in two places at the same time. As far as his folk song is concerned, we can assure Mr. Burney he'll find everything he's looking for, although the lyrics may not be all to his liking. But that's sometimes the case - when the words and music are recorded in the Twilight Zone.”
This event will take place at 5:30pm.
In the Zone: Rod Serling’s Radio Career (April 22nd) – Rod Serling archivist and historian Michael Pipher will host this special program displaying parts of Rod Serling’s time in radio. The program will consist of rare audio clips of Serling as a juvenile actor from his internship at WNYC in 1946, as well as segments from a live Rod Serling radio show originally broadcast in 1951. There will be a screening of The Twilight Zone episode “Static,” in which an old bachelor, fed up with what he deems mindless drivel on the television, discovers that his radio is picking up old programs from the 1930s and 40s.
Then, a segment from 2006 Cincinnati Ohio Serling retrospective featuring many of his coworkers from his early career in TV and radio in Ohio will be shown. A Q&A and discussion will follow.
This event will take place at 6:30pm. The Bundy Annex Theatre is located at behind the mansion at 129 Main Street in Binghamton. Admission is free. Visit the Facebook event page or bundymuseum.org for more information.
