ASCEND, A MUSICAL & CLASSIC FAIRY TALES AT EPAC
Ascend, a Musical, in its world premiere at the Endicott Performing Arts Center, is a timeless tale and love story known by millions throughout the world. In collaboration with Ken Martinak, author, lyricist, and composer Lori Zabadal-Dayton says it was her “mission to write a musical that continues the story of the longstanding musical, Jesus Christ Superstar.” In Jerusalem, 33 A.D., after Jesus was crucified, Mary Magdalene arrives at his grave the next morning to find the tomb empty. The resurrected Jesus appears to Magdalene and tells her to summon Peter, who thinks he is to blame for Jesus’ death. Peter and his closest friends fail to believe Magdalene, until the moment of truth ignites.
