MILKWEED ELECTRIC AT CYBER CAFÉ WEST
If you’re a faithful reader of Carousel, then you already know about Binghamton folk 3-piece Milkweed, and you might even already know about the legendary 7-piece electric set they performed last October at our annual Scareousel Ball. What you might not already know is that that one-off show is being re-created (with slightly less costuming, we’d assume) the first Saturday of June at Cyber Café West. If ya don’t know, now ya know, sucka. Milkweed’s Jackie Colombo, Joe Alston, and Pete Lister are inviting a slew of special guests from the New Jersey music scene to be their backing band for a night, reimagining originals into larger than life opuses and tackling a few select covers (at the Halloween show, they all dressed as different dead rock stars and picked their covers accordingly- for a taste, check out their version of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans” on youtube.) Joining them on stage will be Joe Cirotti on electric guitar, Mike Alexander on electric mandolin, Joe Biglin on keys, and Caleb Estey on drums.
Milkweed Electric takes the stage at Cyber Café West (176 Main Street, Binghamton) at 9pm on Saturday, June 3rd. Tickets are $10/advance (available at the café) and $15 at the door. More info at milkweedtheband.com and cybercafewest.com.
